Ronnie Belliard drove in three runs and fellow newcomer Jon Garland contained his former team for seven innings as the Dodgers beat the D-backs on Thursday night, 4-2.

Garland, acquired from Arizona three days earlier for a player to be named, allowed runs in the first and third innings, but also retired the final 14 batters he faced. He struck out six and allowed five hits, including a home run to Stephen Drew. Jonathan Broxton picked up his 31st save.

Garland was shaky his first inning as a Dodger, allowing three baserunners, including Mark Reynolds' two-out RBI single. The Dodgers tied the game in the second on Belliard's two-out broken-bat RBI single off Billy Buckner. Belliard started at second base with Orlando Hudson getting the night off.

Arizona regained the lead on Drew's solo home run with one out in the third. Manny Ramirez tied it with a home run to center leading off the bottom of the fourth and the Dodgers took a 3-2 lead later that inning when Casey Blake doubled, tagged to third James Loney's flyout and scored on Belliard's line single.

Belliard's third RBI came in the sixth inning with a one-out, bases-loaded fielder's-choice grounder, Loney sliding hard into second baseman Ryan Roberts and Belliard beating his throw to first while Ramirez scored.
