WOW- what an incredible victory- really reminiscent of the 1988 Dodgers. I mean back to the wall, 2 outs, bottom of the 9th, nobody on base, and a line drive to left that was headed right to the left fielder to end the game, and the Dodgers till came back to win. Just amazing!!!

The game turned on the glove of the left fielder, and we're not talking about Manny Ramirez.

St. Louis' Matt Holliday dropped James Loney's slicing line drive with two outs in the bottom of the ninth that would have ended the game. With the reprieve, Ronnie Belliard singled off Ryan Franklin to tie the score and pinch-hitter Mark Loretta singled home Casey Blake for a stunning 3-2 Dodgers win over the Cardinals in Game 2 of the NL Division Series.

In the winning rally, Holliday's error was followed by a Blake walk, Belliard's RBI single, a passed ball by catcher Yadier Molina, a walk to Russell Martin and the hit to left-center by Loretta, who had to sweat out the final cut to make the roster.

The series shifts to St. Louis with the Dodgers needing one win in the next three games to advance to the NL Championship Series.

Until the ninth inning, all the Dodgers could muster was an Andre Ethier home run off Adam Wainwright, wasting a strong postseason debut from 21-year-old starter Clayton Kershaw.

Kershaw was charged with two runs on nine hits in 6 2/3 innings, leaving shortly after No. 8 hitter Colby Rasmus doubled home Mark DeRosa with his 100th pitch. That broke a tie resulting from solo homers by Matt Holliday in the Cardinals second inning and Ethier's in the Dodgers fourth.

Wainwright had a perfect game until Ethier's two-out shot in the fourth. He allowed only two other hits in eight innings -- a sixth-inning single by Rafael Furcal and eighth-inning single by Martin. On Furcal's single, right fielder Ryan Ludwick appeared to lose the ball in the setting sun, which was a factor throughout a game with an unusual 3:07 p.m. PT start time.
