The Los Angeles Dodgers have acquired outfielder Shane Victorino from the Philadelphia Phillies.

The Phillies received reliever Josh Lindblom, Double-A reliever Ethan Martin and a player to be named or cash. ESPN.com's Jayson Stark was the first to report the deal.

The Dodgers already have been aggressive leading up to Tuesday's 4 p.m. ET trade deadline, acquiring three-time All-Star Hanley Ramirez from the Miami Marlins. Los Angeles has also been in talks for Chicago Cubs pitcher Ryan Dempster and outfielder Alfonso Soriano, according to a major league source.

In the final year of his contract, Victorino is enduring a disappointing season, batting .261 with nine homers, 40 RBIs and 24 stolen bases in 101 games.

It is uncertain how the Dodgers would use Victorino, who is considered an above-average center fielder. Matt Kemp is the club's center fielder, and Andre Ethier is firmly entrenched in right. Victorino could switch to left field.

The trade also signals that the Phillies, who have won five straight NL East titles but are well out of a playoff spot this season, are starting to look toward 2013. There also have been trade rumors involving pitchers Cliff Lee and Joe Blanton and outfielder Hunter Pence.

Looks like we are still in play for Dempster.

Interesting acquisition- I suppose Victorino will lead off or bat second. Giants got Hunder Pence who is a better hitter. I didn't like giving up Josh Lindbloom either. Aw well- maybe Victorino will do better at Dodger Stadium.

I agree Dave. It was an interesting trade. I'm thinking Shane is going to bat lead off, with Ellis hitting 2nd.

Well good to see Victorino starting to wake up- I still would like to see him get on base more often though. Let's see if we can sweep the Pirates!

Good thing Hanley has been hot, ever since that Marlins series. It sure is a lot more fun watching the Dodgers score some runs, and not always have 2-1 games. I do wish Shane would be a bit more patient at the plate.
