MIAMI -- One day after testing his sprained left ankle by making modest turns, outfielder Matt Kemp, who's on the 15-day disabled list, had a scheduled day of rest Tuesday, while Dodgers manager Don Mattingly conceded Kemp won't return until next month.

"September would be the best-case scenario for Matt," said Mattingly.

Kemp's injury, which the club originally believed wouldn't put him on the DL, instead has sidelined him a month.

With the Minor League season ending the first week of September, that also means it's less likely Kemp will play in an actual rehab assignment.

Can't wait to see Matt Kemp back in the lineup. But Another disappointing season for him, just so riddled with injuries. I wonder if there is something he or the Dodgers can do to help prevent some of these mishaps.

^^Yeah, ever since that season he lost the MVP to lyin Ryan, his follow up seasons have been rather disappointing. Hopefully he can just come back healthy, as at least he's still a threat to go deep.

Hamstring injuries can't be prevented. The sprain ankle was a really a freaky accident and really slow recovery. Hopefully it all turns around for him.

I am a little concerned that Kemp has gone 0-18, or something like that so far. Andre has also been playing well, so I'm curious to see what Mattingly will do once Kemp eventually rejoins the team.

I am really am concerned about him and the decision Mattingly must do. Since Puig is injured right now the outfield will be Crawford, Skip, and Ethier probably insert SVS. Once both Puig and Kemp comeback Mattingly will probably play Ethier on left field.

I have a feeling that Ethier may be the odd man out when Kemp returns.
