PHOENIX -- The Arizona Diamondbacks were upset after roughly half of the players on the Los Angeles Dodgers celebrated clinching the NL West title on Thursday by jumping into the pool at Chase Field.

Diamondbacks president and CEO Derrick Hall said in a statement to the Arizona Republic, "I could call it disrespectful and classless, but they don't have a beautiful pool at their old park and must have really wanted to see what one was like."

The Diamondbacks had asked the Dodgers to keep their players from returning to the field once the division-clinching celebration began. After the Dodgers' 7-6 win, the team high-fived and gathered briefly at second base before it filed into the clubhouse, where champagne and beer flew.

A few minutes later, players began running toward the pool beyond the right-center field wall and scaling it.

The Dodgers misunderstood the intent of the Diamondbacks' request, according to team president Stan Kasten. He thought they were asking Dodgers players not to celebrate raucously in front of Diamondbacks fans. By the time the players took the plunge, the stadium was largely empty.

"I've never been around a celebration like this that didn't get excited and a little bit boisterous," Kasten said.

Diamondbacks infielder Willie Bloomquist was the most vocal critic of the Dodgers' actions.

"I think it's tired and disrespectful," Bloomquist said. "It's surprising, because they have a lot of veteran guys on that team that I thought were classier than that."

Diamondbacks right-hander Brandon McCarthy hopes it's his team doing the partying in the pool next year.

Nick Punto was the first to cannon-ball into the pool. Yasiel Puig later took a belly-flop, arms outspread.

Is CEO a jokester or what??? Their "old park".... One of three remaining storied ballparks in the history of MLB... Yes, that "old park"....

If you don't want people jumping into your pool, fool, don't have one... This is more a classic case of a sore loser...

One D-Backs player said last night "we spent more days in 1st place than they have".... WOW! Too bad they don't give an award or a playoff berth for "more days in 1st place"....

After all the fireworks we had with them this season, it was poetic justice to clinch on their field...

Now, let's focused on getting healthy, and setting up our pitching...

I'm a bit nervous about Kershaw's recent struggles... Nolasco hasn't pitched well in two outings and Ryu has had 1 good outing in the last 4+ weeks. I was thinking Nolasco had taken a strong hold of our 3rd starter come post-season... Did he give it back with the last two starts..

One thing I've noticed about Nolasco, is that he's very Derek Lowe like, in more ways than one... The one Lowe-like quality Nolasco possesses that scares the sh!t out of me, is how he completely unravels if an error is made behind him.. To me, that's indicative of "nerves" and why don't want a nervous pitcher on the mound in the playoffs.. Hopefully he gets it together...

Jeff

i got a question for you... What's your post-season outfield? I'm hoping it's Ethier in LF, Kemp in CF, and Puig in RF...

I'm not a Carl Crawford guy... i believe him to be highly overpaid.. He hasn't hit a home-run in about 18yrs or so it seems... Yes, he's been slowed by nagging injuries, but so hasn't Hanley, Puig, &AGone, and they've produced. After his hot start with the bat, he has fizzled dramatically... We KNOW that Ethier is clutch, he's proven it many times... To me, it's a no-brainer, Ethier starts, and Crawford can be a late game bat and/or runner... So long as Andre is healthy of course...

The Diamondbacks sound pretty bitter, lol. So what if a few guys jump into the pool to celebrate? Celebrations are supposed to be fun and spontaneous. What's "classy"? Is spraying champagne and dumping beer on each other "classy"?

For the Diamondback CEO to come out to say something like that is definitely NOT classy.

BTW good to read your post, dodgerfrommass! Nolasco has certainly struggled the last two starts. Hopefully he turns it around quickly- we know he's quite capable. Look at some film and make a few adjustments, and he should be fine.

Congrats to the Dodgers- it has been a while!

John,

Nice to see you posting here again. Think a few weeks ago, I would've had Crawford, Ethier, Puig. Right now, I'd probably have Ethier, Kemp, and Puig. I would like to see how Kemp is these next handful of games though.

Seems like ever since that game in Colorodo, Kersh hasn't been like Kersh. Hoping the extra rest will benefit him. I'd still like Ryu as our #3 in the playoffs. I just think his overall demeanor will help him more than Ricky.

Okay now a Diamondbacks reporter is saying that he overheard that some of the Dodgers took a piss in the pool during the celebration. That would be dumb because you're immersed in the relatively small pool and you'd be surrounded by your own pee. So I'm not sure if I believe it, but here is the link:

Don't understand if he heard the player loudly boast about it, why wouldn't he include the player's name then? Thinking the writer/reporter is just trying to continue on with this non story.

^^Yup I agree guys- non-story, and even if some pee did leak out from the exciting, the chlorine should neutralize, lol Smile.
